Streaked horned lark  Eremophila alpestris strigata
ESA status: threatened

The streaked horned lark was one of many species languishing on the “candidate” list, without the legal protections of the Endangered Species Act, until Guardians entered into a legal settlement with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service that moved protections forward for the 251 candidate species. The species is now listed as “threatened” and 4,629 acres of grassland are protected as critical habitat.
