WildEarth Guardians’ landmark species settlement agreement obligates the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to make final listing determinations for 252 candidate species under the Endangered Species Act by September 2016. Many candidate species have waited for decades for listing. The plants and animals pictured here are all candidate species that will receive action under the agreement in 2012 or 2013 (except for the Mexican gray wolf, which is specially scheduled for a revised listing under Guardians’ settlement agreement).
