From stuffing envelopes to organizing events and everything in between, WildEarth Guardians always needs volutneers. Whether you have just a few hours to give or would like to make a regular comittment of your time, we will put you to work on tasks that suit your interest and availability. Prairie Dog Release Volunteer. Assist with prairie dog release by carrying cages and attaching retention cages to artificial burrows after release and filling them with food and hay. Prairie Dog Light Feeding / Monitoring Volunteer. Prairie dogs are contained in retention cages attached to artificial burrows for a few days, so they require daily food and hay. Also, can assist monitoring staff with this portion after cage removal. Time Required: About 1-2 hours / day plus drive time. Prairie Dog Intensive Feeding, Monitoring / Prairie Dog Acclimation Volunteer. After retention cages are removed prairie dogs are highly vulnerable. Feed at all artificial and new burrow locations; flag new burrow excavations; prevent predation and document potential threats; prevent prairie dogs from leaving colony boundaries; possibly store and pick-up produce with funds provided or reimbursed. Time Required: About twelve hours / day - Preferably broken into 4 hour shifts from 7 AM – 7 PM (minimum of 4 hours availability). Event Coordinators
Event coordinators needed throughout the year for our annual fundraisers in Albuquerque, Santa Fe and Denver.
